Privacy Policy - Video Randomiser App

Aventurier Studios (“we”, “us”, “our”) built and operates the Video Randomiser macOS application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App processes, how it is used, and the choices you have.

1) Summary

The App is designed to work locally on your Mac. The App does not require an account and does not collect or sell your personal information.

2) Information the App Processes

The App may process the following types of information on your device:

  • Files and folders you choose: When you select folders, the App scans those locations to find supported video files and present random selections.

  • Local preferences: The App stores settings such as your interface preferences (for example, background colour), supported file extensions, and other configuration options.

  • Watched status: The App may store a list of videos you have marked as watched (typically by file path) so the App can avoid repeats if enabled.

  • Operational data: The App may generate basic status messages (for example, scan progress) within the App UI.

Important: The App accesses only folders you explicitly select (or grant permission to access) and does not access other files on your system unless you instruct it to.

3) What the App Does Not Collect

The App does not:

  • collect your name, email address, phone number, or precise location

  • create user profiles

  • use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs

  • track you across apps or websites

  • sell or rent personal data

  • upload your video library or folder contents to a server operated by Aventurier Studios

4) Data Storage and Security

All data used by the App is stored locally on your Mac, typically via macOS-standard preference storage (e.g., UserDefaults) and any permissions you grant via macOS security mechanisms.

You control your data by:

  • removing folders from the App

  • deleting watched status within the App (if available)

  • uninstalling the App (which removes the App and its locally stored preferences, subject to macOS behavior)

5) Permissions

The App may request permission to:

  • access folders you choose (for scanning and opening video files)

You can revoke or manage permissions in System Settings (macOS) and/or by removing folders from within the App.

6) Sharing of Information

We do not share personal information because the App does not collect personal information. If you choose to share files (for example, by exporting logs or screenshots), that sharing is under your control.

7) Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate third-party services for analytics, advertising, or tracking by default. If this changes in future releases, we will update this Privacy Policy and disclose the third-party providers used.

8) Children’s Privacy

The App is not designed to collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App (unlikely given the App’s local-only nature), please contact us and we will address the issue.

9) International Users

The App operates locally on your device. If you use the App outside Australia, your data remains on your device unless you choose to share it externally.

10) Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
